It's true, everyone has the right to express his opinion. I think it's absolutely ridiculous (and not to mention uttmost immature) to attack someone just because he has a different one. I mean opinions are based on subjective impressions so there is no "right" or "wrong". LC doesn't ruin your image of the band when he says the concert sucked. It's just his personal point of view.

That last guy is officially my hero. For the record, I did have my IQ tested recently and it is 10 points higher than a "retarded baby." So... I've got that going for me. The anger of NIN fans compels me.

You are a fucking idiot. You obviously don't know shit about Nine Inch Nails, so don't open your mouth unless you know what you're talking about. First of all, I was at that concert and HE DID NOT PLAY ANYTHING FROM GHOSTS. And you would know that if you weren't a poseur. Second of all, what do you mean Trent is a vampire? Is that an attempt at humor? Thirdly, if you went to as many NIN shows as you claim you have, you would be as sick of seeing 'hurt' and 'closer' live as everyone else. Fourthly, if you knew anything about NIN, you would know that 'the perfect drug' was not meant to be played live. It's a drum n' bass based song. And even if it was performable, Trent doesn't like that song. Oh, and also, Trent explained that having heavy production doesn't give them the freedom to have fun playing an interchangable setlist and give the TRUE fans what they want.

But one thing you're right about is that Trent probably doesn't want to fuck you like an animal, and I know that upsets you because your biggest complaint seems to be that you didn't get to hear Trent say that.

You also seem to appreciate Dave Navarro's shirtlessness, and Perry Farrel's queer mannerisms more than someone with a 'wife' should.

So in conclusion, the only things I've learned from reading your review is that you have the I.Q. of a retarded baby, and your wife most likely has a dick. So fuck you very much and I hope you choke on your wife's cock.

The beauty of opinion is that everyone has one. Thanks to the internet, everyone is also a journalist/concert reviewer/prince of passion or any other label so desired.

LC is entitled to his opinion and to post said opinion on the web. Where he/she has failed is similar to the way the Bush presidency failed: instead of admitting any mistake or error, he/she has found facts and information to support other plausible facts of the argument.

LC, I would be much more apt to come to the defense of your review if you'd simply admit that, as someone apparently in some place of media power (fyi probably not best to say you got the freebie good seats: already gonna piss off your ticket-buying readers and put you in a place of contempt), you failed to do any real research about the subject and indeed gave a lot of word time to things that you could have known prior to arrival. Couple this with doing so when the subject is possibly the most 'connected' current major rock band on the internet with some of the most ardent fans and... well, as they say, fail to prepare = prepare to fail.

Consequently, you've opened yourself up to these people not only disrespecting your opinion but attacking you personally. Speaking as a former (controversial) music writer that faced a lot harsh reader feedback at the famous alternative weekly newspaper (anyone remember those?) for which he used to write, I understand the feeling.

At this point, it may be best to just move on from these flamers, especially if you truly care about your integrity as a writer and instead put your energy into your next story.

Of course, this is just one person's opinion - as is all of this.

Best,
Longtime NiN Fan & former rock journalist

Wow! My NIN & JA experience was totally different. I am very sorry for the people in FL who had a terrible experience. I myself was in fact sure that NIN should have headlined but I actually thought it was JA although the ads would suede one otherwise. My roommate and fellow concert goer stated that NIN was headlining. We arrived late. Missed a couple songs, life will go on. We had PIT tix and SO thankful esp. now that I know this is NIN's FINAL tour. I have said for yrs I want to see them, this was my first show. I want to stalk them to see them again but alas none of the upcoming shows are remotely close to Phx, AZ.

JA is awful to me. Dave is hot but that is the only reedemable (sp) quality in my oh so humble opinion. Their music lacks depth and talent. Not too mention their performance was ridiculous. The lead singer was high or drunk as a skunk and sounded even worse than the shit he sounds like on the radio. We left early after getting pix of Dave half nekit. = )

Still an avid NIN fan. BTW - encore included "Hurt." YAY!

Here are comments from people who make sense on the Rolling Stone article. They mention that this type of show should be in a club, not an arena. Also that the tickets were overpriced with the production value and confusion on the fact that NIN was opening. You shouldn't have to check a message board or band website when a concert is advertised as "NIN with Jane's Addiction." I agree.

They should rename the tour from NINJA to CLUSTERFUCK.

I was at the Atlanta show and it was extremely disappointing. There was a pre-sale ticketing fiasco. Half of the audience was outside while NIN was playing. The merchandise was priced skyhigh. I have given up on NIN after this concert experience, Trent picking fights with other musicians, Trent being rude to fans, and now this insipid female hustler. I don’t know who Trent Reznor is anymore.

I felt like the FL show was very down tempo. The pit was the tamest I have ever seen at a concert. Overall the show wasn’t very good. I heard Trent say the show was going to be stripped down but this show seems better suited for a small venue. Trent needs to regroup and get away from this media crap. Then he might find a good woman and do kick ass concerts.

The FL show was the highest price I’ve ever paid for a concert. I’ve seen NIN multiple times, and expected a good show. The FL concert was the most lackluster stage show I have ever been to. We were hoping for a true NIN show of visual and auditory overload not what was had. I left disappointed as did my people, and everyone walking out after the show from what I heard had very similar feelings. We felt like we just got screwed over, the tickets should have been no more than 29.99. Reznor needs to focus more on this tour and not on tweeting his relationship with some Hollywood ho. I heard Atlanta got more screwed than FL. I’m disgusted.

Gibby…get your facts straight moron. NIN has been touring the world for years. Jane’s Addiction came out with three albums. No way NIN should be opening up for them, especially since Trent says this is the farewell tour.

There were a lot of very pissed off people at the West Palm show… NIN opened for Jane’s, but nobody knew that was going to happen. I guess my fault for showing up a little late, got there around 7:45 and NIN was already on stage. Then they didn’t even come out for an encore. The stage looked like they were going to come back out for a bit and then all of a sudden the lights came on and they started setting up the stage for Jane’s. Heard a lot of booing… Lots of pissed off people…

Went to the Austin show and it was awful. NIN was lackluster and sounded weak. Audience was not into the music. Trent recently tweeted about it: “Not one of our better shows. Despite our efforts we seemed unable to win over the crowd. Texas ends with a whisper.” about 4 hours ago from Tweetie
Trent should buckle down and focus on the tour and not his cheapo girlfriend.

Did you see Trent Reznor whining about the Austin show on Twitter? Really, is he surprised? IT SUCKED! HE SOUNDED LIKE SHIT. He needs to grow up and stop being a ass. He’s “sad” that the crowd wasn’t into it, well if he had put together a tighter show, we would have been into it.

Trent Reznor is a desperate, middle-aged clown. He whined about the Austin show. Really, is he surprised… He’s spent the last two weeks being a complete jerk who even goes as far as attacking fans, then he’s “sad” that the crowd wasn’t into it. I wasn’t blown away by the NIN/JA show because they sucked. The show was very down tempo.

The following is a sample from the concert review on RollingStone.com. This should also make your heads explode. I love the beach ball comment.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/05/11/nine-inch-nails-and-janes-addiction-launch-ninja-in-florida/?rand=43345

"Taking the stage before Jane’s, while it was still light outside, NIN was at a distinct disadvantage — Reznor does not play summer feel-good hits. He and his three bandmates got straight to their business of calling the world a dark hole full of pathetic humans. Sorry to wax Nietzschean here, but NIN is Apollonian in its pursuit of order, compared to Jane’s Dionysian zest for excess. It’s always been a bit hard to take lyrics like “If there is a hell I’ll see you there” seriously, but it was even harder with a beach ball bouncing around the audience’s heads. "

Your obviously not a fan.

Trent has posted the set times in multiple places BEFORE the tour started. If you were a fan, you would of heard about it. But with that being said, NIN should of been headlining.
And as far as playing "Closer" that song is played out. If you have seen them so many times, i would think your tired of it, Most hardcore fans are...

Your not even a big fan, i can just tell from the tone of the review.

That setlist was amazing..

If you think the show in FL was bad, it's chump change compared to the show in Atlanta. The Atlanta NIN/JA show was a nightmare and not worth the $$, time or headache. Those who purchased pre-sale tickets couldn't get into the venue until NIN was half way done. NIN only played about 1.5 hrs. and sounded like shiit. Reznor was unemotional, forgot lyrics, and a sadsack. JA was all strutting around and sounded weak , boring and not into the show. The crowd was very angry. I want my money back.

This guy is a complete bufoon, but I have to agree with some of his points. Unless you are a hardcore fans it might not occur to you to check out the message board to find out if NIN is playing first. I would assume that they were headlining and would be mighty pissed to have missed a portion of their show. I was at the W. Palm beach show and just made it on time with the traffic. I could give to shits about the light show as they played all the stuff I wanted to hear but it was odd seeing them play in the daylight. Plus, this cretin is right about how many people were there. I was in about the 20th row and the pavilion was about half full.

No research, boring, unable to handle criticism in a mature or constructive fashion. I feel sorry for the commenters who didn't enjoy the show. All the information was presented before hand and ultimately it's your own fault but we've all been in similar situations and it's unfortunate you likely spent good money on a lackluster experience. This review is crap though. I'm glad your wife thought Dave N. looked hot without his shirt as that's what makes or breaks concert going experiences. You can try to justify the "three dollar bill" all you want but it's obvious, in one(twelve+) guys opinion, that you are an idiot. Go gargle manure, Biff *hipster* Cannon.

Hey, Trent is now what ? 44 years old ? So maybe he just doesn't want to sing 'I want to fuck you like an animal' every night to 10 000 people anymore.. He grew up since he wrote 'closer' or 'happiness in slavery' and he's maybe a little ashamed by such lyrics. Give the guy a break, alright ?
And, common sense, NIN is not YOUR band it's Trent one so when you go to a NIN concert, you go to see/ear what Trent and the band want to give you, not what you want them to give you.
He's not making the setlist for you either. If you're not happy with it, don't go to the show and stop bitching around.
For the lights well.. It's just lights.. I've seen David Bowie on stage and there were no light show and it was one of the best concert ever. If the band is good, and the music is good why the fuck do you care about lights ? Is it 'common sense' to you ?

This is supposed to be a farewell tour aimed at hardcore fans.

We knew the set times, we knew he was to play obscure stuff which is actually what we crave for. He's bummed out his hardcore fans for years by playing always the same singles... Now's the time to bum out the casual fans.

Picture this : I've seen eleven shows since the With Teeth era. At every single one of these shows I have heard : Closer, March Of The Pigs, Terrible Lie, Head Like A Hole, Gave Up, Wish, Hurt. NIN has a huge hardcore fan base that travels in other cities to see multiple shows and spends hundreds of dollars yearly on whatever he puts out. If he's to retire from touring, he's doing one last world tour to please those fans.

Blame LiveNation on the advertisement. Trent has explained all about this tour as early as December 2008. I am very pleased with those setlists.

Worshiper: "Hey NIN is going on tour again. This time they are playing all the really good songs they never play. Trent says he's sick of being a puppet. I agree with him. No more upbeat catchy songs."

Common Sense Guy: "You mean he's going to play all that atmospheric stuff that is good for chilling out to but maybe not the best material live? If he liked that stuff so much why didn't he play it before when he had over 2 hours to experiment with it?"

Worshiper: "But that's the really good stuff. All the other stuff is shit. He was always forced to play the upbeat songs by his management! We've been tormented for years also and I've always hated the 19 concerts I've been to before. Until now! Plus he gets to play in the daylight. He's always hated the dark. "

Commen Sense Guy: "Oh. So this isn't just a gimmick to have his followers pay another $75-100 each and be more profitable because he's using a reduced show that requires less roadies, semis, and simply will make him a huge sum of money to retire on?"

Worshiper: "What? Blasphemy! How dare you. We're going to have to kill you now because you're making too much sense."

Common Sense Guy: "Fair enough."

. "Just because you buy cds and listen to the music, doesn't mean you understand it. "

That is the greatest quote EVER.

I love it! I've been threatened with bodily harm over having an opinion! The anger so far has already powered all of the West Coast!

This is simply incredible. It's like I walked into church and took a shit on the alter. You do realize that Trent is not God ..... right?

Ok first off. You don't need to apologize for your lack of research. You just need to apologize for flunking journalism school and trying to pass this off as something worth reading. If you're going to write about music you really should have some sort of prior knowledge. Just because you buy cds and listen to the music, doesn't mean you understand it. This tour isn't about the morons who want to hear closer because it's the one from MTV with the scary images!. (Which reminds me, did you tickle your taint when you thought of the headline, cuz I know I would have if I decided that was a 'clever' title.)
So I'm sorry your free VIP tickets weren't good enough. I'm sorry Trent didn't play your favorite song. I'm sorry you can't attend a live show without having pikachu and gozira flash across some high-tech bloated screen to help you enjoy the music. Why not try and listen to the songs you've NEVER EVER heard performed live and remember that Closer is on that DVD you have at home. (Right, you own that too don't you?)
Ok I'm done prodding you.... This next paragraph is for the 12 people who cheered.
I really think this review should qualify as a contest winner for free NIN tickets. Seriously, I want you to get free tickets again, so you can go to the next show at your convenience. But wait it doesn't stop there. You win a free i-phone with the NIN App pre-installed with your LooseGiblets name already signed in. This way when you arrive we can use google earth to track your ass down & beat the crap out of you as closer plays on your newly won phone. And remember.... Wave Goodbye!

by the way, you called this review a public service...
thank you for solidifying my theory "not everyone should have a blog"
